The figures above are Velotric's MSRP, which is what we quote throughout the site. This bike was discounted when we last looked, and sale prices move faster than we rebuild — so treat it as an observation with a date, not a live price. We also don't know whether our code stacks on top of a Velotric sale; Velotric's terms say exclusions may apply, so check the total before you pay.

The Fold 1 is Velotric’s standard folding bike, and its story is entirely about price. At its $1,499 list it is hard to justify, because the Fold 1 Plus lists at exactly the same money and claims 68 miles instead of 55 while also publishing a 450 lb payload. But the Fold 1 is frequently discounted to around $1,299 while the Plus sits closer to list — we last saw them at $1,299 and $1,449 — and at that real-world gap the decision changes. A 750W motor, a 28 mph Class 3 top speed and a one-size folding frame make it a perfectly capable short-commute folder. Just don’t pay list for it.

Who this bike is for
Buy it if
- You find the gap we last saw — $1,299 against the Plus’s $1,449
- Your rides are short enough that 55 claimed miles is ample
- You need a folder and the budget is firm
- You want a published 28 mph top speed, which the Plus doesn’t state
Look elsewhere if
- You are paying list price. At $1,499 the Fold 1 Plus claims 13 more miles and publishes a 450 lb payload
- You are a heavier rider or you carry loads — this model publishes no payload figure at all
- You need to lift the folded bike regularly: no published weight here, and the Tempo states 39 lb
- You want range. Fifty-five miles is the lowest claim among Velotric’s folders

Frequently asked questions
How much is the Velotric Fold 1?
The MSRP is $1,499, or $1,439 with our code REF602492 — but Velotric was selling it for $1,299 when we last checked on 6 October 2026, which is the price that makes it worth considering. The Fold 1 Plus was $1,449 at the same time, so the real gap was $150 rather than nothing. Always check both on the day.
Fold 1 or Fold 1 Plus?
At the same price, the Plus — 68 claimed miles against 55, and a published 450 lb payload against none. The Fold 1 wins when the gap is wide enough; at the $150 we last saw ($1,299 against $1,449) it is genuinely close, and we would still take the Plus if you are a heavier rider or you carry loads, because the payload figure is worth more than $150 to you specifically.
What is the weight limit of the Fold 1?
Velotric doesn’t publish one for this model. If a stated payload matters to you, the Fold 1 Plus publishes 450 lb at the same list price. We won’t estimate a limit for a frame nobody has tested.
Is the Fold 1 a Class 3 e-bike?
Yes — Velotric publishes 28 mph for it, which is Class 3 in the US. Interestingly it doesn’t publish a top speed for the Fold 1 Plus, so this is one of the few specs where the cheaper bike is the better documented of the two.
Our take
This is the one bike in Velotric’s range where our advice depends on what you can find it for rather than on what it is. At $1,499 list, buy the Fold 1 Plus instead — same price, 68 claimed miles against 55, and a published 450 lb payload where this bike publishes none. There is no version of that comparison where the cheaper-feeling bike wins. But the real-world prices are not level: we last saw the Fold 1 at $1,299 and the Plus at $1,449, a $150 gap. At that price you are trading 13 claimed miles and a published 450 lb payload for $150, and for a short commute on a lighter rider that trade is reasonable — though $150 is narrow enough that we would still lean to the Plus if you are at all heavy or you carry anything. So: check both prices on the day, and if they are level, take the Plus. One caveat either way — Velotric publishes no payload and no weight for the Fold 1, so if you are heavy or you lift the bike, the Plus and the Tempo are the documented options.
