At list price there is no argument: both are $1,499, and the Plus gives you 68 miles of claimed range instead of 55, a published 450 lb payload and an award from The Inertia for best overall folding e-bike of 2025. Paying the same money for less bike makes no sense, so at MSRP buy the Plus. The honest version of this comparison is about discounts. The base Fold 1 goes on offer far more often and more aggressively — it frequently sits around $1,299, and we've seen it lower still, while the Plus tends to stay nearer list. Once a real gap of roughly $200 opens up, the decision depends on two things. If your rides are short — a few miles each way, a station run, a campsite loop — 55 miles is already more than you need, and the cheaper bike is the sensible buy. If you're a heavier rider, you carry a bag or gear, or you ride far enough that 55 miles of claimed range means real range anxiety, pay the difference: the 450 lb payload figure in particular is the kind of headroom that stops a folder feeling strained. One practical note before you order: Velotric's discounts move week to week, so check both live prices rather than assuming the gap is there.
